I have a BA in Art Education from Iowa State and took additional courses in Biological Illustration.
Though I was raised on a small family farm, I did not get interested in painting chickens until a trip to Guatemala a couple years ago. I was fascinated by the colors and energy of market day in the small villages and how resourceful people lived. Village scavenging chickens are important to the local economy and food security. Chickens are also lovable. They eat bugs, are great parents and have cute fluffy butts that are fun to paint.
